Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder is actually an adhesive capsule. This causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint. The cause of frozen shoulder is when the connective tissue around the shoulder joint thickens. There are stages of frozen shoulder, they are as follows:
Painful Stage - Any movement of the shoulder will cause pain and the shoulders range of motion will begin to decrase
Frozen Stage - Pain will begin to lessen at this stage although the shoulder will become more stiff and using it will become more difficult.
Thawing Stage - The range of motion in the shoulder will begin to improve
Massage therapy is beneficial to the treatment of frozen shoulder as it can increase the range of motion, blood flow and help with the pain. Various kinds of massage will relax the muscles in the effected area allowing for less chance that inflammation will occur.
